Swiss luxury hotel introduced bitcoin payments
After four years of discussions, a five-star hotel in a luxury area of the Swiss Alps began accepting bitcoin (BTC) and ether (ETH) as payment from guests.
According to Swiss news agency Blick, guests at the Chedi Andermatt will now be able to pay bills of more than 200 Swiss francs (about $218) using bitcoin or ether. Apparently, prices are still set in fiat to reduce the risk of volatility, with the hotel converting any cryptocurrency received into francs.

We realized a long time ago that cryptocurrencies have a great future in the hotel industry," said Jean-Yves Blatt, general manager of the hotel.
Given the growing acceptance and adoption of cryptocurrency payments, we are proud to be one of the first Swiss luxury hotels to offer cryptocurrency as a secure means of payment to guests.
Hotel Chedi Andermatt, which opened in 2013, has 123 rooms and suites priced from 1,300 francs per night in high season (approximately 0.03 BTC or 0.45 ETH).
Many companies in Switzerland have started to adopt digital assets as the country is open to cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology. The Swiss canton of Zug, often referred to as "Cryptodoline," has become home to many blockchain and cryptocurrency companies. In February, Zug announced that it would allow residents to pay taxes in cryptocurrency.
